What is an account-based currency?

Updated over 7 months ago

In an account-based currency system, transactions are recorded on accounts rather than being linked to individual currency units. Each account has a balance that increases and decreases as transactions occur.
Examples:
Traditional bank accounts, where balances update with deposits and withdrawals.
Most cryptocurrencies like Ethereum, which use accounts to manage balances and transactions
